About Ky Dickens

Ky Dickens is an award-winning filmmaker, podcast creator, and storyteller whose work explores complex social issues, human resilience, and consciousness. Known for creating transformative documentaries that influence public policy and ignite cultural change, she works at the intersection of storytelling, social impact, and cultural change.

Her groundbreaking podcast, The Telepathy Tapes, investigates communication and consciousness among nonspeaking individuals. The Webby Award-winning series received an iHeartRadio Podcast of the Year nomination and became a global phenomenon, reaching number one on worldwide podcast charts. In 2025, The Telepathy Tapes nearly swept Apple’s top podcast charts, being named Top Series, Most Shared Show, and Top Episode across all podcasts. The podcast is currently being adapted into a feature documentary set for release toward the end of 2026 or early 2027.

Her films include Show Her the Money, featuring Elizabeth Banks and Sharon Gless, which was named one of the decade’s best financial films by U.S. News & World Report and won three Jury Prizes for Best Documentary, including from the Los Angeles International Film Festival. Her other documentaries include Zero Weeks, about America’s paid leave crisis, which debuted its trailer at the White House Summit on the State of Women hosted by Oprah and Michelle Obama; Sole Survivor (CNN FILMS), a haunting profile of lone survivors of otherwise fatal plane crashes; The City That Sold America, a deep dive into Chicago’s pivotal role in American consumer culture; and #TimeToCare, which premiered at SXSW and screened for the United States Congress in 2021.

A lifelong advocate for the special needs community, Dickens spearheaded her district’s inclusion program when she was in high school. She graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University and lives in Los Angeles with her family, rescue dogs, Devon Rex cats, and kombucha scoby.
