At 17 months old, Caelum Miller suffered a near-fatal drowning that left him with a severe traumatic brain injury. Doctors told his family he would likely remain in a vegetative state for the rest of his life. But his parents refused to close the door on what might be possible.

Years later, Caelum learned to communicate through facilitated communication and began sharing thoughts, memories, and experiences that his family says challenged everything they understood about his consciousness.
